Mizuno Cleats

Mizuno, as a company, makes not only cleats but also running shoes and volleyball shoes.  Their original product, and their main focus however, is cleats.  For this reason, Mizuno is a good place to look when in the market for a new pair of mens softball cleats.  Mizuno products are generally fair priced and, since they don’t spend much money on marketing, you know that your money is going towards making a quality shoe.

Mizuno’s flagship mens softball cleat is the Blast 2 mid.  The term “mid” refers to the height of the shoe, in that these are neither hightops nor lowtops, but rather fall in between the two.  The shoe is widely heralded for being very lightweight and comfortable, whereas some cleats can often feel heavy, as if they are weighing you down.

The traction of the Blast 2 mid is top notch, allowing you to effectively round bases or field grounders in the infield, as well as move swiftly and confidently in the outfield, even on wet surfaces.  The Blast 2 mid uses small, cylindrical plastic spikes that disperse your traction and weight equally, resulting in a more balanced distribution of force.

Mizuno cleats tend to run a bit on the small side, especially in terms of them getting narrow towards the toe area, so you’re likely better off buying a half size larger shoe than you normally do when shopping Mizuno, and the Blast 2 mid is no different.  The shoe, as well as most Mizuno cleats, is available in several colors including black, red, blue, and a black/orange mix.  We prefer the red, and the Blast 2 mid Mizuno cleats are one of our top recommendations for our shoppers.
